Sometimes there is no justice in this world

Thu Jul 9, 2009, 6:46 PM
The book is in getting a mock up run of 2 printed. I hope to see it next week.

I have not been feeling very creative.. or perhaps my muse is away. We are dealing with alot of stress right now as my young daughter's dear friend is terminally ill with leukemia. This is a huge tragedy, the young lady in question is only 8, she has the biggest spirit and would have to be the single most courageous person I know. My daughter is grieving. She is too young to name all her feelings but she does know how angry she is. She waxes between anger and enormous sadness, for herself, and for her friend's family. "It isn't fair!" is her most common phrase.

And it isn't. Cancer is never fair. The death of a child is never fair. And losing a child has to be the most hideous torture any family can go through. Because you and the family are the ones that need to pick up the pieces and try to keep going. You are the ones that have survived and cannot remain in that huge black pit of despair. Because nothing can ever heal that huge rip in your heart. And nothing can ever make you forget.

My heart bleeds for this family. Although my story is not the same as theirs, I have endured the loss of a child. And I know only too well how it tears your life apart. And nothing is ever the same again. I know the the huge rage that you can barely contain. The black pit of sadness that engulfs you.

There is a saying that time heals all wounds. Don't believe it. Over time the pain changes. It is not as immediate and raw. But it is still immense. It becomes more bittersweet as you can recall some happy times without collapsing into a heap.

To any of you who are parents out there.... treasure your children. Love them fiercely. Be their rocks. Let them know you are there for them. No matter what. Each and every child is precious and unique. Hold them tightly when they need it and let them go gently when they need it. We do not know how long they are with us, so please love them NOW.
